Frequently Asked Questions
SEASON SCHEDULE

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
WHAT ARE THE AGE DIVISIONS?

WHAT IS THE CUT OFF DATE FOR YOUR AGE DIVISIONS?
The cut off date for baseball is May 1st.
The cut off date for softball is September 1st.
Visit the USSSA Age Calculator here to input your child's DOB and receive confirmation on the age appropriate program for him/her.
CAN MY CHILD PLAY UP AN AGE DIVISION?
We allow playing up by one year of age. For instance, a child that is league age 10 may play up to 11/12. You will need to contact us at [email protected] after you've registered to have your child moved to the desired program.
Please keep in mind that once a child plays up in age division, they will not be able to move back down until the following season.
CAN MY CHILD PLAY DOWN AN AGE DIVISION?
LGRA DOES NOT allow players to play down in the next younger age division for any reason.
There are NO exceptions, including any of the following:
- Birthdate close to the cutoff
- Started school late or held back
- Smaller or less skilled
- Friends playing in the younger division
- Medical condition
LGRA plays with combination age groups (5/6, 7/8, etc) that makes this a safety issue.
DO WE HAVE TO LIVE IN LOCUST GROVE OR HENRY COUNTY IN ORDER TO PLAY IN LGRA?
You do not have to live in Locust Grove or Henry County to play in LGRA.
We do not have residency restrictions or boundaries.
TEAM ASSIGNMENTS & REFUNDS
HOW ARE CHILDREN FROM THE DRAFT PLACED ON TEAMS?
All non-frozen players (meaning a coach has not requested this player to be frozen to his/her team) will be asked to attend a draft. Each player will be evaluated by the age appropriate coaches and then the coaches will complete the draft of players. Any players not in attendance will be select via hat-pick.
WHAT IF MY CHILD WAS PLACED ON A DRAFT TEAM, BUT THEY ACTUALLY BELONG TO AN ALREADY FORMED TEAM?
If you child was meant to be frozen to a roster, his/her coach should have submitted a requested roster list to a registration coordinator. If there's been a mix up, you should contact your requested coach ASAP and have them communicate this with the association.
CAN I REQUEST THAT MY CHILD BE ON THE SAME TEAM AS THEIR CLASSMATE, NEIGHBOR, FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER?
Please be sure to indicate this in the appropriate section when registering. We will do our best to make this happen, but we can’t make any promises.
If this isn't noted in the registration prior to the registration deadline, please reach out to the registration coordinator and make sure you get a reply to confirm this update was made. After the registration deadline, requests will not be taken/honored.
WHEN WILL I FIND OUT WHAT TEAM MY CHILD IS ON?
Coaches will contact their players by email or phone within 3-5 days after the completion of the draft. If a draft was not necessary in your child's age division, then coaches will contact their players by email or phone within 1 week after registration has ended.
If you are not contacted by the coach within 3-5 days after the draft or within 1 week after registration has ended for divisions not required to draft, you should contact Angie Cash for softball or Kayla Trahan for baseball.

CAN I GET A REFUND IF MY CHILD DECIDES NOT TO PLAY?
Refund requests must be in writing and received prior to the close of registration. You can send an email to [email protected].
NO REFUNDS will be issued after teams are formed and registration has ended.
CAN MY CHILD PLAY ON TWO TEAMS IN CFBBA AT THE SAME TIME?
No. Each player can only play on one team. There are no exceptions to this rule.
GAMES & PRACTICES
WHERE ARE GAMES PLAYED?
Baseball's home park is Warren Holder Park - 301 Club Dr., Locust Grove, GA
Softball's home park is Tanger Station Ballfield - 2951 Tanger Blvd., Locust Grove, GA
Unless our league has the numbers to play in-park (where our teams will only play other LGRA teams and will play only at their home parks) then each team will receive 1/2 of their schedule as games played in their home park and the other 1/2 of their schedule at various parks throughout Henry County. This could mean traveling to North Henry.
Please keep in mind that Warren Holder Park is set to go under construction and this may impact our Spring 2026 season. Games will still be played, however, we may use an alternative park within Henry County to host them. This applies to baseball only.
GAME DAYS
Games are played on Tuesday and Thursdays with Monday and Fridays saved for rain-out makeup days. If your team is scheduled to to play on a Tuesday and that game is rained out, you should be prepared to play that remake game on the following Friday. If your team is scheduled to to play on a Thursday and that game is rained out, you should be prepared to play that remake game on the following Monday.
Saturday games are implemented in the Spring season. If you're team is unable to play on Saturday's or just certain Saturday's, coaches should make the association aware ASAP.
WHEN AND WHERE ARE PRACTICES?
Teams typically practice 1-2 times per week.
Practice schedules depend on the coach. Coaches are responsible for the practice day, time, and location.
WHEN ARE GAMES? WHEN WILL SCHEDULES BE POSTED?
Teams typically play 2 games per week depending on the age division. Weeknight games start as early as 6:00 PM. Saturday games start anytime between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Schedules are completed after teams are created. While this is a time consuming process, we try to have them done as soon as possible.
A maximum of 4 blackout dates will be observed per team. Blackout dates should be submitted within 1 week of team formation by the head coach. Blackout dates will not be accepted after the schedule has been released.
HOW DO I FIND OUT IF MY CHILD’S GAME IS RAINED OUT?
As soon as the determination to close parks due to rain, inclement weather or unusable/unsafe field conditions, we will update coaches first. Next, we will post on our facebook page. Our facebook page is the main source of immediate information. Please follow us on facebook here.
EQUIPMENT
WHAT EQUIPMENT DOES MY CHILD NEED?
Each child should be equipped with their own glove, bat, batting helmet, cleats and bat bag.
A facemask is mandatory for all softball players, as is a batting helmet with a face guard. No metal cleats are allowed in softball.
UNIFORMS
LGRA does not provide uniforms. Coaches are responsible for ordering uniforms, this will be an additional cost. Ask your coach for details.
The only rule we have regarding uniforms: each player must have a unique players number on the back. Names, logos & color of jersey are all optional.
VOLUNTEER: COACH OR TEAM MANAGER
I AM INTERESTED IN BEING A HEAD COACH, ASSISTANT COACH OR TEAM MOM. HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION?
Be sure to complete the volunteer section during registration. You may also contact Angie Cash for softball or Kayla Trahan for baseball for additional details.
